About the Doctor

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's in Systemic Family Psychotherapy, which allows me to work in individual psychotherapy, with families, and with patients of all ages. I studied Narrative Therapy for a year in Evanston, Illinois. I continue and will continue studying this approach as I find it the most liberating. This approach addresses problems as something outside the person. Generally what we see as problems are a way of rebelling against the social and cultural discourses that go against what we value, so from this approach we focus more on the relationship we have with the problem than on pathologies constructed from "normativity." In addition to my private practice in Mexico, I work at the Hospital de la Mujer in British Columbia, Canada, where I specialize in chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. I have taken courses on chronic pain, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, among others. My experience and ongoing training foster a professional, respectful, relaxed, and judgment-free environment based on the patient's needs, taking into account their cultural, family, and personal background. . I hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Systemic Family Therapy (MSFT) from Universidad del Valle de Mexico. Among other things, I have completed the Narrative Therapy Yearlong Training program at the Evanston Family Center in Chicago, APT accreditation of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Course, as well as specialized pain science instruction through Pain BC and the NOI Group. Aside from my private practice I work at BC Women's Hospital with people experiencing chronic pain and endometriosis. As a narrative practitioner, I emphasize a client-centred, trauma-informed approach to care. I believe my clients' values, experiences and knowledge are critical parts of the healing process. Different from other approaches narrative practitioner believe that the problem is not within the client. Instead we believe that our problems are created as a way to rebelling against oppressive discourses that our culture and our society have embedded, so we focus more on the relationships we have with the problems rather than in pathologies created by a "normative" world. I speak both English and Spanish, and I try to bring a special warmth and levity to counselling sessions to make my clients feel comfortable, understood and safe.
