About the Doctor

My full name is Mónica Tania Cárdenas Becerril, although I prefer to simply be called Tania Cárdenas. I graduated in Nutrition and Food Science from Universidad Iberoamericana. For me, nutrition is more than a profession, it is a passion that requires constant updating, since new concepts emerge every day that enrich our understanding of the importance of a proper diet. With a 30-year career in clinical nutrition, I began my career at the Climacteric and Postmenopause Clinic of Hospital Santa Teresa. Over time, I expanded my focus toward the treatment of overweight and obesity, aware of the worrying increase in these health problems. During this period, I actively participated in the study and treatment of Metabolic Syndrome, adapting my dietary and lifestyle approaches to address this complex condition. In addition, I had the honor of being part of the health plan team at Banco de México from 2006 to 2020, contributing my knowledge and experience to promote health and well-being among the organization's workers. My approach to healthy eating often surprises my patients with obesity or overweight issues, since many assume that losing weight means adopting restrictive diets and giving up tasty foods. However, I firmly believe in personalizing dietary guidelines based on each person's individual habits and preferences. While it is important to include a variety of vegetables, I prioritize those that each patient particularly enjoys. For me, healthy eating not only involves balance and nutrition, but also satisfaction and enjoyment. That's why, when developing personalized meal plans, I take into account my patients' preferred flavors, ensuring that food is both healthy and delicious.
