Taussig-Bing Anomaly

Taussig-Bing anomaly is a congenital heart malformation in which the great vessels arise improperly from the right ventricle and there is an abnormal communication between the chambers, which alters the mixing of oxygenated and non-oxygenated blood.

Possible manifestations: it is usually detected in the first months of life with bluish coloring of the skin, difficulty breathing, fatigue during feeding, and poor weight gain.

When to seek care? Any sign of bluish coloring or unusual fatigue in a baby warrants an early evaluation of the heart.

Which specialist treats it? This condition is studied by the pediatric cardiologist together with the cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon, while the pediatrician oversees the general follow-up. Detecting it in time allows the medical team to define the best care path for the child.
