Tibial Nerve Neuropathy

Tibial nerve neuropathy is a condition of the nerve that runs along the back of the leg and the inner side of the ankle, responsible for the sensation and movement of the sole of the foot. When this nerve becomes irritated or compressed, its function is altered.

Common symptoms:

• Tingling, burning, or numbness in the sole of the foot or the toes
• Pain that may increase when walking or standing
• A sensation of weakness when bearing weight on the foot

Common causes: It is usually related to compression at the level of the ankle, injuries, repeated sprains, or disorders that affect the peripheral nerves.
