Thyroid Nodules

Thyroid nodules are growths or lumps that form within the thyroid gland, located in the front of the neck. Most are benign and are often discovered incidentally during an examination or an imaging study.

How they show up: they often cause no discomfort; at times a lump may be noticed in the neck or, if they grow, a feeling of pressure when swallowing.

Why evaluate them? Although they are usually harmless, it is advisable to characterize them to rule out other causes and understand their nature.
