COVID-19 Evaluation

The COVID-19 evaluation is a medical assessment aimed at people with a suspected infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with active symptoms or with lingering effects after having had it. It seeks to determine the respiratory and general state of the person who comes in.

Symptoms that prompt the visit: persistent cough, fever, fatigue, difficulty breathing, or loss of smell and taste. It also assesses those who notice prolonged lingering effects, known as long COVID.

When is it advisable to get checked? In the case of difficulty breathing that worsens, fever that does not let up, or symptoms that last longer than expected, it is prudent to seek care.

Who performs it? The general practitioner is usually the first point of contact for this evaluation; when there is significant lung involvement the pulmonologist steps in. The most advisable thing is to schedule a professional review that guides each case individually.
