About the Doctor

Graduated from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México 2004-2009, with a thesis in the Oral Surgery seminar on "Osteonecrosis in patients undergoing head and neck radiotherapy." In 2010 she was selected among more than 1000 graduates to perform Maxillofacial Surgery at Hospital 20 de Noviembre. Two years later, she completed a diploma in Implantology and Prosthetic Rehabilitation and was later accepted into UNAM's Division of Graduate Studies to pursue Periodontics and Implantology, where she was again selected among an elite group of 3 Dental Surgeons to complete an extracurricular residency at the Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán as a Dental Surgeon and Clinical Researcher in the Outpatient Dentistry Department. In late 2014, always with the spirit and will to help the most vulnerable populations, she began a Master's in Public Health at UNAM's Graduate Studies Department, specializing in chronic systemic diseases (Prediabetes and Diabetes) and tooth loss (Periodontitis). Her project is unique in Mexico and highly important, as it covers all the most vulnerable populations and proves that systemic decompensation influences oral health, causing painless tooth loss (Periodontitis). Over several months, she carried out fieldwork and collected a sample of more than 500 participants and performed altruistic social work through community health campaigns. Returning to Mexico, she had her first Oral Research meeting with her now Doctoral advisor, Doctor Eduardo Bernabé, one of the most important researchers in the world. At the same time, and for three years, she worked at UNAM's School of Medicine in the Public Health Department as a socio-medical researcher. She was later accepted to complete an international Statistics course at Loyola University, Chicago. She completed a diploma in Interdisciplinary Health Care Management and Leadership from Universidad Nacional del Rosario Argentina and the McGill Institute for Health and Social Policy in Canada. Upon finishing her master's, she was hired at the Secretaría de Salud in the Dirección General de Epidemiología and served as Department Head in the Communicable Diseases Area. Her clinical experience includes both the public and private sectors. She provided clinical care for 8 years in Lomas de Chapultepec, where she was trained by the elite of dentistry in Mexico in Comprehensive Prosthetic Rehabilitation, and her team continues to work at her private clinic in the south of Mexico City. She has carried out various research and clinical practice collaborations in Mexico and around the world with the IADR (International Association for Dental Research), with Mexico's SSA, and with CAPHD in Canada (Canadian Association of Public Health Dentistry). In 2021 she was accepted into two prestigious Doctoral programs. The first at UBC (University of British Columbia, Vancouver), and she chose the second, under the mentorship of the renowned Dr. Eduardo Bernabé at what was considered the best Dentistry school in the world, King's College London. The program is currently called Dental and Health Sciences Research MPhil/PhD, where she continues her research on chronic systemic diseases, dietary patterns, and periodontal disease via satellite. Her résumé is so extensive that it has allowed her to see dentistry from a global perspective, allowing her not only to have the highest scientific knowledge in her field but also to involve the profession and the population in the social justice of oral health, thereby giving access, hand in hand with experience and high quality, to all populations of Mexico.
