My name is Rodrigo Mancera, I am a Pediatric Surgeon. My training began in 2008, studying medicine; in 2015 I entered the specialty, positioning myself for the specialty of pediatric surgery, from which I graduated in 2022, completing 6 years of specialty training — the first 2 years focused on pediatric patient care, and the last 4 years focused exclusively on surgical training, where I developed skills in treating the main pediatric surgical conditions, from the most common such as appendicitis, to less frequent conditions such as congenital malformations. My training was at a high-specialty hospital with a high volume of patients, Hospital La Raza, accredited by UNAM. Among the skills developed I could list surgery for cryptorchidism and intra-abdominal testis, inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, diaphragmatic hernia, hiatal hernia, circumcision, vascular access both conventional and ultrasound-guided, laparoscopic or minimally invasive surgery for acute abdomen conditions such as appendicitis or cholelithiasis, as well as laparoscopic inguinal repairs, laparoscopic antireflux surgery, and surgeries for anorectal malformations and Hirschsprung's disease. At the end of the specialty I took the board exam for national certification, as well as participation in national and international specialty update congresses. I began my professional career in public and private hospitals as a physician assigned to the general pediatric surgery service, where a large number of patients were treated who required surgeries for conditions such as cryptorchidism, intra-abdominal testis, inguinal hernia, umbilical hernia, appendicitis, vascular access, acute abdomen, intestinal obstruction, thyroglossal cyst, tonsil surgery. Alongside this I began private practice mainly in Star Medica hospitals. In 2024 I began private medical practice in Mexico City and the metropolitan area. I have participated in multiple national and international congresses, where I have attended, participated in the evaluation of papers, and also participated in producing various independent papers which have received awards; this activity is of vital importance to keep knowledge updated and maintain certification with the Consejo Mexicano de Cirugia Pediatrica.
