Splenic Infarction

Splenic infarction occurs when the flow of blood to part of the spleen is interrupted, damaging that tissue from lack of oxygen. It is an uncommon condition that is usually linked to other disorders of circulation or of the blood.

Common symptoms: pain in the upper left part of the abdomen, which sometimes spreads toward the shoulder, along with fever or a feeling of general malaise.

Common causes: it can be associated with clot formation, clotting disorders, or diseases that affect the blood vessels.
