During your visit, a refraction (prescription check) is first performed with an optometry specialist, to assess possible errors in the patient's prescription, followed by an interview about the history and current state of the condition. The surface and anterior segment of the eye are then examined, followed by intraocular pressure and finally the back of the eye or fundus. It is essential that the patient come accompanied and not drive after the examination due to the use of drops to numb and/or dilate the pupil, as well as possible glare from the lamp used during the assessment.
