What does an optometrist do?

They assess visual acuity, measure refractive errors, and advise on the use of lenses, in addition to detecting signs that warrant an ophthalmologic evaluation.

Conditions treated

The most common reasons for consultation are refractive errors, such as nearsightedness, high myopia, astigmatism, and farsightedness. Conditions that require follow-up are also identified, such as strabismus, keratoconus, cataracts, and dry eye syndrome.

When to seek care?

• Blurred vision far away or up close.
• Headache or eye strain when reading or using screens.
• The need to check or update your lenses.
